MyJPJ is now one of the most useful tools a Malaysian rider can keep on their phone. It does not replace careful ownership records, insurance checks or safe riding habits, but it can make everyday checks easier before you ride, renew, sell or buy a motorcycle.

The search intent for this guide is simple: riders want to know what MyJPJ can actually do for motorcycles, what they should still keep separately, and how it fits with road tax, licence and summons checks. If you are also sorting out ownership documents, read How to Transfer Motor Ownership in Malaysia after this.

What MyJPJ Helps Riders Check

JPJ describes MyJPJ as its official mobile app for public JPJ services. For motorcyclists, the most useful checks are vehicle licensing information, driving licence information, current plate information, summons status and digital licence display.

That means a rider can use MyJPJ as a quick readiness check before a daily commute, a weekend ride or a viewing appointment with a seller. It is especially useful when you want to confirm whether your motorcycle road tax, known officially as Lesen Kenderaan Motor or LKM, is still valid.

eLKM and eLMM in Plain English

In MyJPJ language, eLKM refers to the digital vehicle licence or road tax, while eLMM refers to the digital Malaysian driving licence. The official MyJPJ FAQ states that users can access digital eLKM and eLMM inside the app profile, including motorcycle vehicles registered under the user.

For a rider, the practical habit is to check three things before you leave: your motorcycle appears under your profile, the LKM status is active, and your driving licence class is suitable for the motorcycle you ride. For licence class basics, see Malaysian Motorcycle Licence Guide.

What If Your Phone Has No Battery or Internet?

Do not treat a phone as your only plan. JPJ's MyJPJ FAQ says digital display can be accessed through MyJPJ or the JPJ public portal, and users without a phone may access and print the digital display through the portal. The FAQ also explains that previously accessed digital information may still be available if the user remains logged in and had accessed it while online.

The safe habit is boring but effective: keep your phone charged, check MyJPJ before leaving, and keep your insurance renewal confirmation somewhere easy to retrieve. If you share the motorcycle with a family member, make sure the person riding has the right access or printed proof from the owner.

Summons Checks Before Buying or Selling

MyJPJ also supports JPJ summons checks. If you are buying a used motorcycle, this should be one part of a broader due-diligence routine, not the whole inspection. You still need to check the motorcycle condition, matching registration details, seller identity and payment flow.

For buyers, use MyJPJ as a confidence layer before you move deeper into negotiation. For sellers, clearing known documentation questions early makes the handover smoother and reduces last-minute suspicion from serious buyers.

When MyJPJ Is Not Enough

MyJPJ is useful, but it does not inspect tyre age, frame condition, crash repair quality, unpaid private loans or whether a seller is rushing you into an unsafe deal. Pair digital checks with a physical bike inspection and a proper handover plan.

If the motorcycle is being sold online, compare the listing, photos and ownership story against the actual bike. Our 10-point used motorcycle inspection is a good companion before you put down a deposit.

Quick MyJPJ Checklist for Riders

• Check eLKM status before riding.

• Check your eLMM and licence class before using a different motorcycle.

• Check summons status before selling, buying or renewing.

• Keep your MyJPJ login secure and log out if using someone else's device.

• Keep insurance and ownership documents organized outside the app as backup.
