How to Write a Good Motorcycle Listing Description

By MotoPlace Editorial

📸

Most motorcycle listings in Malaysia are written poorly — vague, incomplete, or just a model name and a price. A well-written listing stands out, builds buyer confidence, and attracts serious enquiries faster. Here is how to write one that actually works.

---

Lead with the Key Information

Your first two lines should answer the buyer's most important questions immediately:

Model, year, mileage, asking price.

Example: *"Yamaha Y15ZR 2021, 18,000 km, original condition, RM7,200 nego."*

Do not make buyers read three paragraphs before they know what you are selling.

---

Describe Condition Honestly and Specifically

"Good condition" means nothing — every seller says this. Be specific:

**Instead of:** "Condition baik, no issue."

**Write:** "Engine running well, no oil leaks. Front tire changed 3 months ago, rear at 60%. Chain and sprocket replaced at 15,000 km. One small scratch on the right fairing from parking, visible in photo 4."

Honest, specific descriptions:

Build buyer trust before they even contact you

Reduce time wasted by buyers whose expectations do not match reality

Protect you if a buyer later claims misrepresentation

---

Include Everything a Buyer Needs to Know

Cover these points in your listing:

**Model and year** (e.g., Honda Wave 125 2020)

**Current mileage** (state the actual odometer reading)

**Registration year** (sometimes different from manufacture year)

**Road tax expiry** — buyers want to know what's valid

**Insurance expiry and type** (comprehensive or third party)

**Service history** — where and when last serviced

**Accident history** — be upfront; buyers will ask

**Reason for selling** — optional but builds trust

**Modifications** — list anything non-standard

**Asking price and whether nego**

**How to contact** — WhatsApp number is standard

---

What Not to Write

Vague claims: "Very well maintained," "Like new" (prove it with specifics)

Unnecessary history: "Bought this for my son but he moved overseas" — buyers do not need your life story

Unrealistic prices without explanation — if you are asking above market, briefly explain why

---

Language

Write in the language your target buyer reads. On MotoPlace.my, a mix of English and BM works well for most Malaysian buyers. Do not over-formalize — a natural, conversational tone reads as honest.
